Haden, Sir Francis Seymour
Sir Francis Seymour Haden (1818–1910) is widely regarded as the foremost artist in the British etching revival of the 19th century. He was a surgeon by profession, and a self-taught artist. His early efforts were spurred on by his young brother-in-law, James McNeill Whistler.
Haden wrote impotant books on the art of etching, including scholarly work on Rembrandt.
