Description
Vienna’s oldest market in the center of the city is known for its 18th-century baroque fountain, believed to celebrate the marriage of Mary and Joseph.
Note: etchings on silk require multiple points of support to keep the image in square. At some time in its nearly 100 year history, this print was supported with tape that left the stains you see here. The stains are not spreading, and in this case there is ample room for a generous mat window. The print will appear pristine when matted.
A lovely feature of Figura’s etchings on silk is the shifting tones of the light areas. At one moment, for example, the white clouds shimmer against a darker sky. Then, as you change viewing position, the tones are reversed: now a brighter sky glows from behind darker clouds.
